U.S. House Rep Ro Khanna (D-CA) got some pushback from leftist journalist Aaron Rupar after he appeared this morning on Maria Bartiromo’s Fox News show.
Rupar shared a clip from the show and described Khanna’s appearance as him saying “on Fox News that he’s open to congressional hearings on the Hunter Biden/Twitter stuff.”
Khanna disputed that suggestion and told Rupar, “Actually if you watch the clip instead of sensationalizing I said am open to hearings on twitter and freedom of speech —balancing first amendment principles with the need for respect against hate speech.”
“That has nothing to do with Hunter Biden who was not mentioned!” Khanna insisted. In response, Rupar snarkily congratulated Khanna for getting a “high-five” from Bartiromo.
“Ro — I watched the whole interview. Congrats on the high five from Maria,” Rupar declared.
Khanna shot back, “Well, it’s a good thing I believe in the first amendment because your false and sensational summary for clicks and relevance is protected speech nonetheless!”
“No I don’t think Twitter should remove it just because it’s inaccurate!” Khanna asserted.
It seems interesting that Rupar would address Khanna by his first name, which also could be considered disrespectful if they don’t know each other personally.
It appears that Khanna is going to stand firm on the matter, although many wonder why he didn’t speak out prior to being exposed in the Twitter Files.
