Former “conservative” co-host of “The View,” Meghan McCain, begrudgingly weighed in on the Whoopi Goldberg controversy by writing an op-ed for The Daily Mail, which she now works for.
The piece, which was released prior to her suspension, is titled, “There’s no point calling for Whoopi to be fired – her half-assed apology for antisemitism only shows again the double standards television holds for liberals and conservatives.”
McCain explained that she has a lot on her plate and that she hasn’t been engaged in what has happened on the program since she left it six months ago.
“The show doesn’t define me like it has so many other people who have worked there over the years, and I have found liberation and satisfaction in my career working here at DailyMail.com,” McCain insisted.
McCain rattled off statistics about how Jewish people have been targetted in America and touted her own work in combating “anti-semitism.”
Ultimately, McCain concluded:
I am not calling for Whoopi Goldberg to be fired, if only because I don’t believe there is any universe where she could possibly do anything that could get her fired – she is the crown jewel of The View and a pop culture icon.
But I hope this can be used as a teachable moment to explain to millions of Americans why conflating the Holocaust as something that is specific and limited to ‘white people’ is insane, ahistorical and anti-Semitic.
For as much as the left is fond of using Nazi comparisons and imagery, the truth of the Holocaust, who it targeted and why, deserves to be known and understood by all.
On Twitter, McCain faced a barrage of liberals who suggested that she was being disingenuous and/or defended Goldberg.
You were quick (1 day) to write an article on your ex-cohost. But still after a month haven’t written anything on those text messages from Hannity, Laura and others about Trump on January 6th. Why not?

Others brought up a situation in Florida involving GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis and a Nazi rally, oddly asking her to focus on that instead.
Meghan, are you going to write an article about this?https://t.co/DZ6ol3cTSY

Whether they like it or not, there was simply no way that McCain couldn’t weigh in on it as she is a former co-host who had left fairly recently and her departure may have been under duress.
