U.S. House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was forced to continue her tirade on Twitter today after she was shockingly shut down by a GOP Committee chair during a hearing today.
Greene called Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas a “liar” after he insisted that the Biden Administration was doing everything it could to secure the southern border.
The Independent reported that U.S. House Rep Mark Green (R-TN), who is the chair of the House Homeland Security Committee, responded to an objection by U.S. House Rep Bennie Thompson (D-MS) to what Greene had said by asking if she would withdraw her statement.
Greene refused and so Green immediately ruled that she’d violated the rules and ordered the words stricken from the record.
Green then chastised Greene by telling her, “It’s pretty clear that the rules state you can’t impugn someone’s character, identifying or calling someone a liar is unacceptable in this committee, and I make the ruling that we strike those words.”
In addition, Green added that Greene was “no longer recognized” which meant she could not finish her questioning of Mayorkas.
Under House rules, Greene would be barred from any subsequent rounds of questioning during the hearing, according to The Independent.
Greene shared a clip of her exchange with Mayorkas in a tweet and noted, “Bennie Thompson can call Republicans insurrectionists, terrorists, racists, and all kinds of other names but when he claims it’s not right to say factual things, my words get struck down by a Republican-controlled committee.”
“I’ll say it again, Secretary Mayorkas is a liar,” Greene declared.
