New Hypothetical Poll Shows Chief James Craig Leading Gretchen Whitmer by 6 Points

Former Detroit Chief James Craig leads Michigan Governor Whitmer by six points in the poll conducted by Trafalgar Group. The poll was conducted statewide in Michigan with 1097 respondents.

Respondents were asked who they would vote for, for Governor between Chief James Craig or Governor Whitmer in the 2022 election. Chief Craig received 50.4% of the vote with Whitmer receiving only 44.4% and 5.2% were undecided. 53% of respondents were affiliated with the Democrat party, 35% Republican affiliation, and 11% independent.

Chief James Craig tweeted about the poll with the caption, “We have momentum.”

Craig retired as head of the Detroit police department in June of this year. Craig announced he would be running for Governor of Michigan in July on Tucker Carlson’s show on Fox News. Craig officially launched his campaign on September 14th.

Craig is one of nine declared Republican candidates vying to oust Whitmer from her position. Craig seems to be leading in that category as well. In another poll conducted this month that asked which Republican candidate people would vote for Craig came in on top with 37.9%

In May of this year, Whitmer was caught violating some of her own covid measures she had put into place. We reported in part, “Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) was caught at a bar violating her own COVID. Whitmer was photographed at the establishment and one of the participates posted the picture along with others. The picture that contained Whitmer was later removed.

The current guideline issued by the Whitmer state; “Consumption of food or beverages is permitted only in a designated dining area where patrons are seated, groups of patrons are separated by at least 6 feet, no more than 6 patrons are seated together (at a table, booth, or group of fixed seats), and groups of patrons do not intermingle.” Clearly, she violated her own rule.

After being caught in violation of the rule her press secretary released a statement from the Governor. “Throughout the pandemic, I’ve been committed to following public health protocols. Yesterday, I went with friends to a local restaurant. As more people arrived, the tables were pushed together. Because we were all vaccinated, we didn’t stop to think about it. In retrospect, I should have thought about it. I am human. I made a mistake, and I apologize.””

Michigan seems to be ready to let Whitmer go and Chief James Craig may just be Michigan’s next Governor.
