America First Republican Liz Joy was a Congressional candidate who came up short in the 2020 election for the 20th district in New York, which includes Albany, and has announced her intentions to run in 2022.
Joy released a statement yesterday “in response to the BLM occupiers forcing Albany police officers out of a patrol car.”
“Our brave men and women of law enforcement deserve better than the treatment they are receiving from Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan and Police Chief Eric Hawkins. They have allowed the BLM occupiers to cause mayhem and put police officers in danger for far too long,” Joy said in the statement.
Joy demanded, “The Mayor and Police Chief need to shut it down and shut it down now.”
“Even after justice was served in the Chauvin case yesterday, the BLM occupiers surrounded a police car and forced the officers to abandon it. This is not a peaceful protest and this is no longer about First Amendment rights. This is about the health and safety of the police officers and our community. Every day the BLM occupiers are allowed to act without consequence, is another day our law enforcement and community are in harm’s way. Mayor Sheehan and Chief Hawkins need to do their jobs – support our police and shut down the BLM occupation, immediately,” Joy insisted.
Joy concluded, “While Democrats are destroying America & enable rioting- BLM is running wild, burning, looting & taking over Police precincts. The House Democrats just voted to make Washington DC a State of its own, so they could pick up 2 more Senate seats.”
A local BLM leader “Legacy Casanova” apparently took issue with Joy’s statement as he sent her a vulgar, sexist, and racist message through Facebook, which Joy shared in a post.
Casanova said in the private message, “B*tch you know nothing about my friends f*ckk you and your campaign. We aren’t out here for Just George Floyd. We are out here for all black lives. And for the police who are brutalizing Black people right here in Albany. Suck my d*ck you dumb b*tch. We will continue to be out here and your dusty white ass will not stop us.”
Joy said of the message, “Message to me from Capital Region BLM leader & activist. This is the kind of rhetoric they spew regularly. Peacemakers? Justice seekers? They don’t like that I support law enforcement & the @albanypolice. The local media gives this person a lot of coverage.”
U.S. House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene quote tweeted Joy’s tweet and said, “What a lovely message this BLM leader sent to her. Sounds a lot like the kind of messages and comments I get from the loving and tolerant left.”
