New York City Mayor Eric Adams didn’t mince words when responding to a tweet by U.S. House Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).
Ocasio-Cortez had insisted in her tweet that homeless subway passenger, Jordan Neely, who died after being placed in a chokehold because he was acting in a “hostile and erratic manner,” according to witnesses, was murdered.
“Jordan Neely was murdered. But bc Jordan was houseless and crying for food in a time when the city is raising rents and stripping services to militarize itself while many in power demonize the poor, the murderer gets protected w/ passive headlines + no charges. It’s disgusting,” Ocasio-Cortez declared in response to a New York Times tweet.
Ocasio-Cortez added in a reply, “It is appalling how so many take advantage of headlines re: crime for an obsolete ‘tough on crime’ political, media, & budgetary gain, but when a public murder happens that reinforces existing power structures, those same forces rush to exonerate&look the other way. We shouldn’t.”

Adams was asked about what Ocasio-Cortez said during an appearance on “CNN Primetime” and said, “I don’t think that’s very responsible at a time when we’re still investigating the situation.”
“Let’s let the DA conduct his investigation with the law enforcement officials, to really interfere with that is not the right thing to do,” Adams continued.
Adams concluded, “And I’m going to be responsible and allow them to do their job and allow them to determine what exactly happened here.”
Fellow squad member and U.S. House Rep Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) also later chimed in on the situation in a tweet.
“He was 30 years old. Black men deserve to grow old—not be lynched on a Subway because they were having a mental health crisis. Jordan deserved better. Accountability now,” Pressley claimed.

Pressley and horse face are idiots. Black men deserve to grow old?! People deserve to be in a peaceful environment and not be intimidated by a black lunatic. Why is it almost always blacks acting out like this? Because race hustlers like pressley and horse face want to give them a pass. I’ve had it with black people.
The entire black community is complicit because they won’t call their own out for this carnage. Where is your outrage black folk? Where is your morality? Where is your respect and dignity?
Your silence is deafening.
I saw a black punk on the subway on a video, intimidating a white man and his wife, saying filthy things to their toddler.
The crap needs to stop. Blacks need to stop their shite.
The miscreant got what he deserved.
It’s all about black privilege. Defined as being able to commit any crime and still be the victim.
