OPINION:
The morning after the Democrats of the House voted to impeach President Donald Trump, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) didn’t want to talk about it anymore. Nancy insisted that the only way forward on impeachment would be if it were bipartisan in the Senate and that this impeachment needed support from both parties to be successful, although no Republicans supported impeachment in her House vote either.

The impeachment moved to a vote without a single Republican in support. However, Democratic presidential hopeful Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) voted present on both articles of impeachment as she had pushed for censure over impeachment. Article 1: Abuse of Power had two democrat defectors voting nay (Collin Peterson(MN) and Jeff Van Drew (NJ)) and Article 2: Obstruction of Congress had three defectors (Peterson, Jeff Van Drew and Jared Golden(ME)).
In the press conference immediately after the impeachment vote, Pelosi inferred that the Articles of impeachment might not be sent to the Senate. When asked about an indefinite hold Pelosi said: “We’re not having that discussion”. It seems that Pelosi wants to see how the Senate will handle processing the Articles of impeachment before handing them over, she is set to meet with Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) later today. If the Articles make it to the Senate they will go into the hands of Republican lead Senate. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is the Senate Majority Leader and has stated that he will work with The White House in process.
Pelosi was unable to keep her House party members in check during the vote, as she wanted to set a somber mood, with most dressing in what appeared to be funeral garb. Nancy was also said to have urged her members not to cheer and or clap after the vote. However, after the vote was completed you could hear Democrats clapping and Pelosi glared in their direction.
Rashida Talib (D-MI) well known for saying “We’re gonna Impeach the M*therf*##$%r” back in January of this year posted a video of herself on her way to vote for impeachment. She has been part of a bigger movement of the squad including AOC, Ayanna Pressley, and Ilhan Omar to push house speaker Nancy Pelosi into impeaching President Donald Trump over the past few months despite her reluctance. Talib seems elated to be voting to impeach President Donald Trump.

Rashida ‘Impeach that MF’ Tlaib posted this giddy video on Instagram today.
But Pelosi had the audacity to say on live TV today that this is a ‘somber day’ and no one wanted this.

The Democrats have impeached Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States. Without any Republican support, this impeachment is completely a partisan action. Regardless of the rhetoric that the Democrats used in justifying moving forward with the impeachment inquiry, the vote on the House floor shows what the Republicans have been touting the entire time. This impeachment was planned out for years, and there is nothing criminal the president did to be impeached, a first for America.
