House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in an interview yesterday that Republicans are “trying to get away with murder, actually — the murder of George Floyd” which even shocked many in the mainstream media as the Democrat-controlled House prepares to pass its police reform package.
She went on MSNBC today and spoke with Peter Alexander who asked her if she would apologize to Senate Republicans who were asking her to do so.
“Absolutely, positively not. The fact is, I think you frankly in the press have given them far too much credit for a bill that does nothing. They’re saying, ‘well you have your bill, they have theirs.’ Yeah, our bill does something, theirs does nothing,” she replied.
She clarified that she was referring to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, not Sen. Tim Scott, the author of the GOP police reform bill and the only black Republican in the upper chamber.
She also tweeted out that it was “disappointing that Senate GOP has ignored the voices of hundreds of thousands peacefully calling out for justice.” She again pushed her proposal, The Justice in Policing Act.
Disappointing that Senate GOP has ignored the voices of hundreds of thousands peacefully calling out for justice. Their proposal mimics the words of real reform but takes no action & makes no difference. It is unworthy of support. Congress must pass the #JusticeInPolicing Act.

McConnell tweeted out that he believes the Democrats are ducking “whole process” because they “would rather preserve a campaign issue than find a bipartisan solution.”
Democrats say they disagree with parts of @SenatorTimScott’s bill. Fine. The Senate has a way to settle policy differences. It’s called legislating. The only reason to duck the whole process is if Democrats would rather preserve a campaign issue than find a bipartisan solution.
