A Gallup poll was released today that shows, “More Americans approve of the job congressional Republicans are doing than of congressional Democrats’ performance — 40% vs. 35%.” Other stats were included in the poll and one Republican Senator and former presidential nominee who does not enjoy favorability within his own party, but that of the Democrats is Utah’s Mitt Romney. Meanwhile, President Trump is sitting near the highs of his approval ratings, including with Republicans.

A couple of GOP strategists took to Twitter to respond to the news, with one saying, “Go play with your new friends, Mittens.” Another said, “He needs to be voted out! Who agrees?”

Last month, an article was released with a headline saying that Romney was a “‘Judas’ to many Republicans,” but that “many in Utah cheered his impeachment vote.” Three days before that and two days after he had spoken in favor of impeachment, a poll had been released showing that his “job approval from Utah voters” had dropped “significantly.”

Whether the voters approve or not, they are stuck with Romney for at least another 4 years, as he was elected in 2018 and will serve until 2024. Republican delegates had preferred an opponent, Mike Kennedy, during a contested convention that year but Romney was elected by a landslide in the primary and then general election.
