Pop icon Madonna was found unresponsive in her New York City home on June 24 and was rushed to the hospital, where she was intubated and admitted to the intensive care unit.
The 64-year-old singer’s manager, Guy Oseary, confirmed the news on Instagram, writing that Madonna was suffering from a “serious” bacterial infection. He said that she was “currently in the ICU under doctors’ close care” and that she was “expected to make a full recovery.”
Intubation is a procedure in which a tube is inserted into a person’s airway to help them breathe. It is often used in cases of severe illness or injury, when a person’s own airway is not functioning properly.
The cause of Madonna’s infection has not been released, but she has a history of health problems, including injuries sustained in a 2015 fall and a 2019 injury.
Madonna’s fans have been sending her well wishes on social media. Many have expressed concern for her health and have wished her a speedy recovery.
As of June 28, Madonna is still in the ICU, but she is said to be improving. Her manager has not released any further updates on her condition.
