President Trump, Eric, and Trump Jr. Wage a Twitter War Against Media Outlets

This morning The Hill Reported on a tweet put out today by President Trump. In the tweet, Trump called out two Washington Post reporters by their twitter handles, @PhilipRucker and @AshleyRParker. He refers to Rucker as ‘Mr. Off the Record’ and calls them ‘two nasty lightweight reporters’. He then goes on to suggest they be barred from the White House because ‘their reporting is so DISGUSTING & FAKE’. The full tweet reads:

The Washington Post’s @PhilipRucker (Mr. Off the Record) & @AshleyRParker, two nasty lightweight reporters, shouldn’t even be allowed on the grounds of the White House because their reporting is so DISGUSTING & FAKE. Also, add the appointment of MANY Federal Judges this Summer!”

The Hill article that can be read here reports in part:

Trump’s tweets came a day after two top White House officials penned an op-ed in The Washington Examiner criticizing The Post for a Sept. 1 article describing “what some Trump advisers and allies characterize as a lost summer defined by self-inflicted controversies and squandered opportunities.”

Stephanie Grisham and Hogan Gidley, the White House press secretary and deputy press secretary, respectively, wrote that The Post refused to cite the majority of Trump’s accomplishments from a list of 26 that was provided.

The White House officials accused Rucker and Parker of having “pushed their own personal political narrative that President Trump had a ‘lost summer’ of squandered opportunities and few accomplishments.”

They specifically cited Trump’s historic meeting with Kim Jong Un in North Korea as well as his push for a trade deal with Japan as examples that the reporters did not include.

This comes just over a week after Trump was pretty much forced to fire his personal assistant who he subsequently forgave, Madeline Westerhout, for saying some unsavory things about President Trump’s family to a journalist at an ‘off the record’ dinner, only for her to find out later that her words were leaked, which is against normal journalism standards. According to Newsweek though, Westerhout never actually said: “off the record”. Newsweek said:

Madeleine Westerhout was forced to resign as executive assistant to the President on Thursday after Trump learned she had shared information with reporters at a recent off-the-record meeting, during which she didn’t say her comments were off the record.

With all this going on it looks like Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. even more so are taking to Twitter to call out their least favorite media outlets themselves for all kinds of varying reasons. Eric Trump faces scrutiny for posting an email from a Washington Post Reporter who reached out in an attempt to provide a backchannel for President Trump’s son to provide ‘anonymous’ information. Clearly the Trumps have had their problems in the past with journalists citing only ‘sources’ about stories that often end up never manifesting or being proven true, and that is the likely reason Eric called out the reporter. Many have hit back at Eric Trump including ‘Wapo’ reporter David Nakamura, who calls Eric’s callout ‘press intimidation’.

“Buy the official Trump marker, which is different than every other marker on the market, because this one has the special ability to drive @CNN and the rest of the fake news crazy! #KeepMarkersGreat
