New York’s progressive State Senator Jessica Ramos, lobbying for a bailout for out of work illegal immigrants, told the New York Times recently, “I’ve met neighbors who have not been able to pay rent, or put food on the table, or been able to provide their children with a laptop when a public school has not been able to provide one.”
According to the publication, state legislators have pushed through a measure that will do just that and offer one-time payments of up to $15,600 to the non-citizens that could add up to $2.1 billion as part of the state budget.
A recent op-ed in the Washington Post suggested that it was Republicans who were moving further to the right and that center-right Republicans should seek to become “Biden Republicans.”
The Lincoln Project pushed that message in a tweet and announced that the “GOP can’t be saved.” It seems, however, that with measures like this, it is Democrats that are moving further to the left.

New York’s Attorney General Letitia James issued a statement regarding the legislation on verifying fraud potential regarding the payments, known as the Excluded Workers Fund.
We believe the Office of the AG’s role will be to ensure the integrity of the process by verifying whether the regulations and the process being established are constitutional,” James said.

Ramos released a statement about the measure, which was approved yesterday, where she said, “Very early this morning the, @NYSenate took the historic step to #FundExcludedWorkers!”
“I am very proud to have championed this effort on behalf of my neighbors and hundreds of thousands of excluded workers who will receive long overdue financial support they need,” Ramos added, echoing the words reported by the New York Times.
