Rally Held in Portsmouth to Defend Police Chief Placed on Administrative Leave for Charging State Senator

A rally was held in front of city hall in Portsmouth, VA today in support of Police Chief Angela Greene, who was placed on administrative leave for charging State Senator L. Louise Lucas and others.

Attorney Tim Anderson, who helped organize the rally spoke with WAVY-10 and said that they originally had an “impromptu rally with 20 or 30 people.” They put the word out on Facebook for this one and more showed up from all over Hampton Roads.

Anderson said that he “believes the police chief can be reinstated at the will of the city manager as soon as possible.” He added that they “brought water instead of bricks.” He believes that “she didn’t do anything wrong.” He called it “an injustice and a slap in the face to the rule of law.”

Among others who attended and spoke was the newly elected Republican Party of Virginia Chair Rich Anderson (no relation) and America First and Republican former Congressional candidate Jarome Bell.

Chair Anderson said that the Democrat party has been taken over by the far left so if there are were any people that were in attendance that identified as Democrats, they should come over to the Republican party.

Bell said that he believes “racism is dead” and that he wished more black people in the city would come out and support Chief Greene. He added that “these black lives matter.” He continued that “corruption has gone on for too long.”
