Amid the tweeting controversy surrounding second debate host Steve Scully, who is now suspended from C-SPAN, the moderator of the third debate, NBC White House correspondent Kristen Welker, deactivated her Twitter account.
She recently reactivated it and even if it has been combed through, there is still a clear bias as she often tweets out things that put Democrats in a positive light and Republicans in a negative one.
On August 19th, for example, she retweeted a video from Lester Holt and said, “Our latest on Kamala Harris ahead of her historic night.”

Another tweet in July read, “Today we honor and pay tribute to Rep John Lewis – a Civil Rights icon, the “Conscience of Congress” and a person who made my journey possible.”

Prior to that, she tweeted out a negative tweet regarding President Trump and the GOP, saying “The latest from @carolelee, @spettypi, @albamonica, @KellyO and myself: Trump’s convention cancellation is costing GOP donors millions.”

A recent tweet from author and reporter Paul Sperry wondered, “Is POTUS walking into another NBC trap on Thursday?”
He added that “Kristen Welker, who’s been chosen to moderate last presidential debate, was caught falsely reporting something Trump told her directly during press conference. Welker is close to virulently anti-Trump Chuck Todd &Andrea Mitchell.”

James Woods lamented today, “Republicans simply deserve to lose this election. How in God’s name do you approve of a debate moderator so biased she has to delete her Twitter account before the debate?”

Following the publication of a New York Post article today which exposes Welker’s ties to prominent Democrats, GOP National Spokesperson Elizabeth Harrington shared the article in a tweet and responded critically to the news.
Harrington said, “I’m sure this will be another totally unbiased, fair ‘debate.’ Oh well, President Trump is used to it and will win anyway. Poor Joe has been doing this for 47 years and still needs help!”

The report says that Welker comes from an established Democratic family, who have poured cash into party coffers, and to Trump opponents, for years.
FEC receipts show that her mother, Julie Welker, a prominent real estate broker in Philadelphia, and father, Harvey Welker, a consulting engineer, have donated tens of thousands of dollars to Democratic candidates and close to $20,000 to Barack Obama alone.
The report also notes $3,300 for Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign and $2,100 for Hillary Clinton’s failed 2016 presidential effort against Trump while another $7,300 was contributed to the Democratic National Committee between 2004 and 2020.
