An Axios report published today announced that Tucker Carlson and Elon Musk had a “conversation” about working together.
The pair “didn’t discuss specifics” according to the report and not much else is known about whether the two are serious about joining forces or not, but Carlson’s only statement since his departure from Fox News came via a video on Musk’s Twitter.
The report triggered MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan, who responded to it in a tweet where he asked, “Remember when Musk pretended to be a ‘centrist’, against the extremes of left and right, and so many people believed him?”

Remember when Musk pretended to be a 'centrist', against the extremes of left and right, and so many people believed him?
As we previously reported, following Carlson’s departure, Musk appeared to throw cold water on a suggestion that he should hire Carlson.
A Twitter user said in a tweet, “Elon Musk should hire Tucker Carlson and start a video service to compete with YouTube.”
Musk responded, “Or we don’t hire anyone, but simply enable content creators to prosper on this platform without applying censorship that goes beyond the law.”
Musk sat down with Carlson for an interview just prior to leaving Fox News and as he reported, the two shared a laugh over Musk calling the New York Times “diarrhea.”
According to the report released today, Carlson is busy plotting a media empire of his own. He has to be let out of his contract, however, which doesn’t expire until January 2025.
Outlets including the Rumble and Newsmax have reportedly been in contact with him and offered to pay him more than his Fox contract.
