Republicans called U.S. House Rep Maxine Waters (D-CA) to “order” after she yelled at them while casting a Speaker vote on the House floor.
Waters had previously been name-dropped in the round of voting by U.S. House Rep Matt Rosendale (R-MT) while he was making a nomination.
Rosendale had nominated U.S. House Rep Byron Donalds (R-FL) to be the House Speaker in the ninth round.
During Rosendale’s speech, he mentioned “Maxine” but after it stirred a response, claimed he hadn’t named anybody.
The clerk ultimately admonished Rosendale and told him to address his speech to the presiding officer and not individual members.
Waters, however, believed he was addressing her and when it was her turn to vote, she tried to lecture Rosendale as well as Republicans as a whole.
Republicans shouted “order” as Waters pointed and shouted, “You call my name, I’ll call his name!”
The clerk banged the gavel after giving Waters an opportunity to make her point and she sat down, laughing.
Waters then cast her vote for U.S. House Rep Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), like she had the previous eight rounds.
Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), on her ninth vote for House Speaker, gets in a shouting match with Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT), who invoked her name during his speech earlier:
