Robert Reich Floats Possible Breyer Replacement: ‘What About Barack Obama for the Supreme Court?’

In a proposal that is sure to make conservatives shudder, Democrat economist Robert Reich, who served in multiple administrations, floated a possible replacement for Justice Stephen Breyer.

“What about Barack Obama for the Supreme Court?” Reich wondered in a viral tweet after Breyer announced he was retiring earlier today.

Reich added, “There’s precedent: William Howard Taft was President (from 1909-1913) and later served on the Supreme Court (1921-1930).”

Taft was a lawyer and a judge himself prior to becoming president and although most know Obama as a former community organizer, he also was an attorney.

Far-left Democrats, however, have begun to call for Justice Breyer’s seat to be filled by a black woman, as we previously reported.

U.S. House Rep Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) took to Twitter following the news tweeting, “.@POTUS, it’s time for a Black woman on the Supreme Court.”

The Biden Administration said they would do so as White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki confirmed today, according to Johnathan Turley:

“Jen Psaki just reaffirmed that the President will only consider a black woman for the next nomination — a threshold gender and race condition that the Court itself has found unconstitutional for schools and unlawful for private businesses. The Biden Administration has been found previously to have engaged in racial discrimination in federal programs. However, fortunately for the President, Supreme Court nominations are not subject to the same constitutional scrutiny.”

Reich later retweeted LaTosha Brown who shared a CNN graphic showing possible black woman replacements and said in a tweet, “This nation would benefit from having the unique perspective of a Black woman on the court.”

“This is the moment that we need a Justice that will bring a strong sense of justice, integrity, true respect for diversity and an acute understanding of civil rights and voting rights,” Brown declared.
