Florida GOP Ron DeSantis spoke out this morning against after it was reported yesterday that the Department of Homeland Security has launched a new panel to “tackle disinformation.”
“They now have an idea and I honestly just thought this was just a belated April Fool’s Joke, but they are actually going to create in the Department of Homeland Security a bureau of disinformation, it’s basically a ministry of truth,” DeSantis announced.
DeSantis explained, “What they want to do, is they want to be able to put out false narriatives without people being able to speak out and fight back.”
“They want to be able to say things like Russia collusion and be able to perpetuate hoaxes and then have people like us be silenced,” DeSantis insited.
DeSantis then warned, “They want to be able to advocate for COVID lockdowns. They want to be able to advocate for school closures. Things that are not supported by the evidence, but then when you speak out they want to stifle dissent.”
“So we reject this bureau in the state of Florida,” DeSantis declared.
DeSantis also vowed, “Clearly our entire principles that this country was founded on, you cannot have a ministry of truth in this country and so let’s get real here, let’s make sure that we are doing things to benefit Floridians and Americans, but we’re not going to let Biden get away with this one so we will be fighting back.”

In a statement, DHS claimed that the board was created, because “The spread of disinformation can affect border security, Americans’ safety during disasters, and public trust in our democratic institutions.”
“Disinformation expert” Nina Jankowicz has been selected to lead the board and her selection drew immediate rebukes from critics.
Tucker Carlson said on his Fox News show last night that Jankowicz “is the most ridiculous of all in Biden’s Ministry of Truth.”
