House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was put on notice today by the Archbishop of San Francisco that she is forbidden from receiving communion over her abortion advocacy.
In a letter, San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone wrote to Pelosi informing her that she should not present herself for Holy Communion at Mass and that priests will not distribute communion to her if she does present herself.
Cordileone said in the letter, “A Catholic legislator who supports procured abortion, after knowing the teaching of the Church, commits a manifestly grave sin which is a cause of most serious scandal to others. Therefore, universal Church law provides that such persons ‘are not to be admitted to Holy Communion.'”
The letter was announced in a tweet by Cordileone where he explained that “After numerous attempts to speak with Speaker Pelosi to help her understand the grave evil she is perpetrating, the scandal she is causing, (and) the danger to her own soul she is risking, I have determined that she is not to be admitted to Holy Communion.”
Furious liberals flocked to the tweet, including Twitter user “KO Murphy” who asked, “Are you going to make sure that every person who takes communion is anti-abortion?”
“If so, I think you’d find that probably a majority of SF Catholics would no longer qualify,” they suggested.

In a joint statement with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer after the Supreme Court draft was leaked, the two Democrat leaders said that “If the report is accurate, the Supreme Court is poised to inflict the greatest restriction of rights in the past fifty years — not just on women but on all Americans.”
“The Republican-appointed Justices’ reported votes to overturn Roe v. Wade would go down as an abomination, one of the worst and most damaging decisions in modern history,” they insisted.
Cordileone said that in a previous letter that he wrote to Pelosi on April 7, he informed her that she “should you not publicly repudiate your advocacy for abortion ‘rights’ or else refrain from referring to your Catholic faith in public and receiving Holy Communion, I would have no choice but to make a declaration, in keeping with canon 915, that you are not to be admitted to Holy Communion.”
Since that time, he said, she has not done so.
