Sen Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) was not impressed with Sen Joe Manchin’s appearance on Fox News yesterday and pledged today to bring the Build Back Better Act to a vote.
In a letter to his colleagues, Schumer declared, “The Senate will, in fact, consider the Build Back Better Act, very early in the new year so that every Member of this body has the opportunity to make their position known on the Senate floor, not just on television.”
“We are going to vote on a revised version of the House-passed Build Back Better Act – and we will keep voting on it until we get something done,” Schumer insisted.
U.S. Sen Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) approved of Schumer’s decision and said in a tweet, “The American people expect the Senate to deliver the Build Back Better plan AND protect the right to vote.”
“Inaction is not an option: our democracy is under assault and our economy is not working for working people. Enough talk. It’s time to vote,” Warren asserted.

On the other side of the aisle, Sen Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Thursday, “The single biggest Christmas present Washington Democrats could give to the American people is to kill their reckless taxing and spending spree.”

U.S. House Rep Jim Jordan (R-OH) put it more succienctly and tweeted today, “God Bless Joe Manchin.”
God Bless Joe Manchin.

Manchin was critical of a speech that Schumer made in early October after Republicans agreed to a deal to raise the debt ceiling:
Manchin said on his way out of the Capitol of the speech, “I didn’t think it was appropriate at this time.”
“We have to de-weaponize. You can’t be playing politics. None of us can, on both sides. Civility is gone,” Manchin insisted.
