Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is becoming more desperate by the day to stop the confirmation hearings of Amy Coney Barrett, which are scheduled to begin on Monday.
In an interview today, he called any efforts to delay or stop a confirmation before Election Day “an uphill fight” and added that “there aren’t that many tools in the toolbox because McConnell has so defiled the Senate, but whatever tools there are, we’ll use.”
Last week, Schumer said that “it is irresponsible and dangerous to move forward with a hearing” after the President and two Republican Senators on the Judiciary Committee tested positive for the Coronavirus.
According to the Times Union article about Schumer, shortly after Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died last month, former Vice President Joe Biden, his running mate U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer met to plan their strategy to attack the confirmation process Republicans were quickly advancing to fill the vacancy.
It is clear that they settled on health care and preservation of the Affordable Care Act as it has been a battle cry of Biden’s presidential campaign ever since.
Schumer said in the interview he did that health care will at the core of Democrats’ message and questioning during the confirmation hearings.
He has been tweeting multiple times daily about it, with most tweets containing the words “Democrats are fighting” and one example of what they are supposedly fighting for and using the #What’sAtStake.
