Today, Fox News reported that Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) will object to certifying the results of at least one state during Jan. 6 Electoral College vote count by Congress.
The announcement comes ahead of tonight’s Georgia rally with President Trump and tomorrow’s runoff election.
According to Fox News, Loeffler will “object on her own” and not as part of Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz’s electoral commission, which he introduced over the weekend.
In a statement to Fox News, Loeffler said, “Elections are the bedrock of our democracy and the American people deserve to be 100% confident in our election systems and its outcomes. But right now, tens of millions of Americans have real concerns about the way in which the November Presidential election was conducted—and I share their concerns.”
“The American people deserve a platform in Congress, permitted under the Constitution, to have election issues presented so that they can be addressed. That’s why, on January 6th, I will vote to give President Trump and the American people the fair hearing they deserve and support the objection to the Electoral College certification process,” Loeffler added.
While Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) hasn’t committed to do the same, he did defend Trump’s call to Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) that has been maligned by the left.
“I didn’t hear anything in that tape that the president hasn’t already said for weeks now since the November election calling for some sort of investigation, some sort of resolution to the improprieties and the irregularities that we now see happened in November here in Georgia,” Purdue said when asked by Fox News about the call.
