“Shepard Smith Reporting” to be Replaced with “Bill Hemmer Reports” on Fox News

On Friday, October 11th, 2019 Shepard Smith announced that after 23 years it was his final show at Fox News. He was leaving Fox News altogether. Smith was Fox’s Chief anchor as well as managing editor of the breaking news unit. Smith’s announcement caught many by surprise as he had signed a multi-year contract with Fox in March of 2018. Many were happy to hear the news, as Ann Coulter put it the Monday after Smith’s final show “the sweetest words today were the ones we did not hear” Other, more left-leaning pundits and fans were not quite as thrilled.

Yesterday it was announced that Fox News has selected their replacement for the 3 P.M. time slot. Bill Hemmer has been given his own show “Bill Hemmer Reports” leaving the 9 A.M. “America’s Newsroom” that he co-hosts with Sandra Smith. The launch date for the new show is set for January 20th, 2020.

When announcing his promotion on air Hemmer said “As a journalist, I am extremely grateful for this opportunity. 2020 will undoubtedly be a year of great significance. Leading our breaking news division with a signature hour has enormous value to me, personally, and to our audience. We’ve got a fantastic team here, and I am excited to get to work.”
