UPDATE: 3:40 AM ET: Reports now say there was one gunman, a 43 year old man, and he has died of a self inflicted gunshot wound.
UPDATE: 12:10 AM ET: There are now three dead and five injured in the MSU shooting. Police say there is now only one suspect and that person is reportedly at large.

Tragedy and chaos are unfolding in Michigan tonight. One person so far is reported to have died at a Michigan State University shooting situation. It appears there have been at least two shootings according to reports now.
The City of East Lansing tweeted:
“NIXLE: Shots have been fired on the MSU campus. The shooter is still at large. Police are active on the scene. Community members on and off campus should shelter in place immediately.”
The Detroit News reported in part:
The university said the first shots were fired inside Berkey Hall at 8:18 p.m. on the north end of campus near Grand River and Farm Lane. Gunshots reportedly were later heard at the Snyder-Phillips Hall, where police began swarming the building with guns drawn. And IM East was being secured by police afterward, according to MSU police.

Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer has tweeted:
“I’ve been briefed on the shooting at Michigan State University. The Michigan State Police along with @msupolice, local law enforcement and first responders are on the ground. Let’s wrap our arms around the Spartan community tonight. We will keep everyone updated as we learn more.”
