With an election audit taking place in Maricopa County, AZ, Republican legislators in the state have been working on other solutions to prevent any election issues in the future.
One such legislator working on that is State Rep Mark Finchem, who is also running for Secretary of State and was recently endorsed by Bernard Kerik, as we reported.
In a recent Facebook video, Finchem explained that he was calling for the Arizona Ballot Integrity Project which he said would provide full-spectrum ballot transparency and security.
Finchem gave a presentation in the video on what that entails, which included explaining what full-spectrum ballot transparency means.
Full-spectrum ballot transparency would make every ballot image a public record available to everyone all the time.
In the proposal, Finchem said there would be currency grade fraud countermeasures, which would use UV light to verify the ballots.
The proposal also includes the addition of a QR code on each ballot that will only be known by the voter so they can track the ballot and make sure it is counted.
Microprint and a hologram on the ballot would be final security measures that are proposed to ensure that ballots are legitimate.
Finchem then noted in the presentation that for those worried about cost, it would only be .25 cents per ballot and could make the forensic audit obsolete.
“Voting should be secret, counting should not,” Finchem concluded, adding, “Let’s put innovation to work for the people.”
