Supreme Court Strikes Down New York Gun Control Law Giving Second Amendment Advocates Huge Win

Second Amendment advocates scored a huge victory after the Supreme Court struck down a New York gun control law today.

SCOTUSblog shared the opinion from the justices and said, “The Supreme Court STRIKES DOWN a New York gun-control law that required people to show ‘proper cause’ to get a license to carry a concealed handgun outside the home. The vote is 6-3.”

Twitter user “Brick Suit” responded, “The only ‘proper cause’ you need is this one” along with a picture of the definition of the Second Amendment.

In a tweet, U.S. House Rep Jim Jordan (R-OH) called it a “Big win for the Second Amendment and freedom!”

U.S. House Rep Lauren Boebert issued a pair of tweets following the ruling where she declared in the first, “SCOTUS just struck down New York’s unconstitutional gun law! Glory!”

“The Supreme Court just made it clear our Second Amendment constitutional rights SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. Americans have a right to carry a firearm for self-defense outside their home. Period!” Boebert added in the second.

Justice Clarence Thomas delivered the Opinion of the Court where he wrote, “the Second and Fourteenth Amendments protect an individual’s right to carry a handgun for self-defense outside the home.”

The dissenting liberal justices, with Justice Stephen Breyer writing the opinion, referenced an increase in “gun violence” and shared specific instances of “mass shootings” that have taken place at different locations throughout the country.

Fox News called it the biggest gun control case in 14 years during their broadcast breaking the news.
