As many left wing activists are furious that Musk has suspended some mainstream journalists and leftists as of late, much hypocritical fury has ensued. Two U.S. House Reps on the Democrat side are taking a much different approach altogether, however, begging an important question as to why.
Some may even speculate that as new Twitter Files get released today as promoted by CEO Elon Musk, the government itself may have been pressuring “old Twitter” into censorship, which could be interpreted as unconstitutional.
Could Swalwell and Lieu be trying to create subterfuge away from that by pretending to care about Musk’s right to “do what he wants” with a private company? You decide.
U.S. House Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) said:
“Twitter can suspend whoever it wants. It’s a private company. That’s how free markets work. Which is why I’m tired of the snowflake MAGA-Nation babies — like @elonmusk — complaining about pre-Musk Twitter rules. The alternative MAGA-whiners want is government control (Communism).”
U.S. House Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) said:
“No. @elonmusk way overpaid for Twitter and he can basically do whatever he wants with it. The First Amendment prevents Congress from regulating speech on Twitter, a private business. It is not Government’s role to tell Twitter who to ban, who to suspend or who to promote.”
Both tweets were a response to a viral from a furious Jason Kint demanding congress stop Musk from enforcing Twitter’s rules as he sees fit. Many may argue that the biases of those in charge could change how the same rules would be enforced and interpreted, just as many seek to think has been happening with the U.S. Constitution, unfortunately.
It looks like one of the latest allegations is that the U.S. government may have targeted RSBN and others. RSBN hosted Donald Trump rallies on Rumble when others censored or ignored them.
“THE FBI WANTED TO BAN RSBN FROM TWITTER!? Congrats to my friends at @RSBNetwork for being #6 on this list that the FBI sent to Twitter for punitive action, you must have been doing something right. This isn’t old news either, it’s from Sunday Nov 6th 2022.”
We will see if the latest Twitter Files expose something bigger here that could potentially take this conversation somewhere new and shocking.
