Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) announced today that he is running for a third term in 2022 and touted a previous endorsement from former President Donald Trump.
In a tweet, Paxton declared, “Today I filed for re-election as Texas Attorney General. I’m the only candidate in this race endorsed by Pres. Trump.”
“Right now, I’m currently involved in over 21 lawsuits against Biden. I’ll keep fighting for secure elections, #bordersecurity & #bigtech accountability,” Paxton added.

In the July endorsement, Trump said of Paxton, ““He is a true Texan who will keep Texas safe — and will never let you down.”
At the time, Paxton responded that he was “honored to receive the endorsement of President Donald J. Trump.”

Paxton will have to win a primary before running in the general election, as he already is facing several competitors due to an FBI probe stemming from former top aides claiming that Paxton received assistance with a home remodel job for alleged girlfriend in return for helping political donor.
U.S. House Rep Louie Gohmert has also announced that he may enter the primary as well, telling attendees at a recent event that he would run if he can raise $1 million to do so.
Yesterday, Paxton filed his latest lawsuit against Biden in federal court over the vaccine mandate “amid a harrowing worker shortage.”
