Arkansas GOP Gov. Asa Hutchinson predictably stated today that he doesn’t want to see Donald Trump run the country again.
Hutchinson has been an outspoken critic of the former president and claimed that “There’s many choices out there” for 2024.
When asked about a recent video where Trump described himself as the 45th and 47th president on the golf course, Hutchinson said, “I do not believe Trump is the one to lead our party and our country again, as president.”
Hutchinson was also asked sked who should lead instead, to which he responded, “that’s what the election is all about.”
After noting the different “choices,” Hutchinson added, “And, you know, the Republican Party has many different voices and it’s important in this time to have those voices and they should be concentrating on this election cycle.”
Hutchinson was apparently the only Republican governor to speak out against Trump at the National Governors Association Winter Meeting in Washington D.C.
Several said they were focusing on their state or the next election when asked about Trump’s statement and whether they support him running.
Hutchinson also declared, “I’ve made it clear: This is about the future. It’s not about the past elections.”
“I don’t believe the election was stolen. I respect the results,” Hutchinson had told reporters earlier.
