U.S. House Rep Lauren Boebert (R-CO) sounded off on X after an unserious vote was cast in the second round of the House Speaker vote for John Boehner.
The vote for Boehner, who is a former Speaker, came from U.S. House Rep Mike Kelly (R-PA), who submitted a resolution to expand the Speaker Pro Tempore’s power.
Boebert declared in the post on X, “The fact that there are members of the Republican Party who want John Boehner back as Speaker tells you everything you need to know.”
“This is just ridiculous,” Boebert insisted.

This is just ridiculous.
U.S. House Rep Jim Jordan (R-OH) was unable to secure the Speakership for a second straight vote, as the total Republican votes for a different person increased to 22.
However, two of the 20 who voted against him in the first round ended up voting for him in the second round while four switched to voting against him.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries again received all 212 votes from the Democrat members of Congress.
U.S. House Rep Chip Roy (R-TX) said in an interview after the vote that he was vehemently against giving the Speaker Pro Tempore additional powers.
