A transgender professor, who resigned from Old Dominion University in Nov. 2021 after backlash over comments that pedophiles should be referred to as “minor-attracted persons,” has been hired by the John Hopkins Moore Center for Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse.
The professor, Allyn Walker, was ultimately placed on administrative leave until May after resigning and so it apparently didn’t take long for them to find a new endeavor.
The child sex abuse center announced the decision on Thursday in a tweet that said, “We are excited to share that Allyn Walker, PhD, will be joining the Moore Center as a postdoctoral fellow on May 25.”
While many appeared to be supportive in the replies to the hiring, there was also a great amount of backlash.
The center then doubled down on the decision in a Twitter thread yesterday:
“Allyn Walker is a leader in the field of perpetration prevention research, which is essential for developing a comprehensive public health approach to addressing child sexual abuse and effective prevention programs. We are delighted to have Allyn Walker join our team.”
“As a postdoctoral fellow at the Moore Center for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse, Allyn Walker will support multiple, large-scale, ongoing research projects and help identify new projects.”
“Allyn Walker’s expertise and qualitative research methodology will enhance and advance the work of the Moore Center. We are excited to have them join our team.”
One Twitter user quipped about the move, “This is like Ted Bundy volunteering at a suicide hotline.”

Another Twitter user wondered, “Who at John Hopkins made this disastrous decision?”

Elizabeth Letourneau is the director of the center and she retweeted the tweets so whether she made the decision or not, it appears she approves of it at the very least.
We have reached out to Letourneau and will update if she responds.
