Senator Minority Leader Chuck Schumer appeared on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night and attacked President Trump again for not employing the Defense Production Act because he believes that there aren’t enough tests.
He said that a local mayor told him that he wants to test everybody so “we can see who has it and who doesn’t.” No country thus far has been able to test every citizen or even come very close ultimately, despite most being smaller.
According to the latest Coronavirus statistics, the USA has tested over 6.5 million people. The next closest country is Russia, at nearly 3.7 million people tested.
Many Democrats have pointed out that the per million testing rate is lower than other countries, but that is only because the USA is one of the largest populations in the world.
President Trump criticized these unrealistic expectations from the Senator saying that he “was on a late-night show using a false talking point over & over again. ‘We don’t have enough testing,’ he would repeat, when he knows we have done a great job on Testing.”
Cryin’ Chuck Schumer was on a late-night show using a false talking point over & over again. “We don’t have enough testing,” he would repeat, when he knows we have done a great job on Testing, just like we have on Ventilators and everything else. He lied, gave NY SALT. Run AOC!

Schumer defended himself in a later tweet by saying that the President had previously told Americans that “Anybody that wants a test can get a test.” He continued, “But it’s May 1, and you still don’t have enough tests or an adequate national testing strategy.” He then asked, “What are you waiting for,” as though the President was holding out on tests somehow.
President Trump: Nearly 2 months ago, you told Americans: “Anybody that wants a test can get a test.” But it’s May 1, and you still don’t have enough tests or an adequate national testing strategy. Americans are sick and dying. What are you waiting for!?
