Trump Campaign Fires Back After ‘Virulent Leftist’ Maine SOS Rules Former President is Ineligible to Appear on the State’s Primary Ballot

The Trump campaign today fired back after “virulent leftist” Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows ruled that the former president is ineligible to appear on the state’s primary ballot.

Bellows said in her ruling, “I conclude that Mr. Trump’s primary petition is invalid. Specifically, I find that the declaration on his candidate consent form is false because he is not qualified to hold the office of the President under Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment.”

The ruling from Bellows came after a Colorado court had ruled that Trump couldn’t appear on that state’s primary ballot.

However, Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold, who is also a Democrat, announced that she will include Trump on the primary ballot on the Jan. 5 certification deadline.

In a statement responding to Bellows’ decision, campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said, “We are witnessing, in real-time, the attempted theft of an election and the disenfranchisement of the American voter.”

Cheung vowed that the campaign would file a legal objection to the decision. In Colorado, the state GOP filed an appeal to the Supreme Court which led to the decision by Griswold.

Pictures showing Bellows with former President Barack Obama and current President Joe Biden have been shared on social media following her decision.
