Trump Plans to Rescue Roger Stone by Commuting Sentence at the Last Minute

It is being reported that President Trump has commuted the prison sentence of long time ally Roger Stone, and seemingly just in the nick of time. John Cardillo tweeted it out a few minutes ago: “BREAKING: @realDonaldTrump Just commuted #RogerStone’s sentence.” The tweets don’t exactly match the most recent news stories that say Trump is planning to commute Stone’s sentence, but it looks like it is going to be a done deal here soon.

Then, very fittingly, Bernie Kerik tweeted a similar expression of the breaking news, because he was another person who has had a shortened sentence thanks to President Trump. He tweeted out: “BREAKING!!!!! Roger Stone’s prison sentence has been commuted by President @realDonaldTrump.” See tweets below:

Fox News reported recently:

Sources told Fox News Friday that the president could announce a commutation of Stone’s sentence as early as Friday evening.

Later Friday, an appeals court denied Stone’s request to delay reporting for his sentence, saying he must report for prison on Tuesday.

“In sum, Stone is not legally eligible for further postponement of his reporting date under 18 U.S.C. § 3145(c), which is the only basis on which he seeks relief from this court. We therefore deny his motion,” the court wrote in its order.

President Trump recently spoke to the press about his plan with Roger Stone. Towards the end of the video Trump says “I’ll be looking at it” when asked about the Roger Stone situation. Watch:
