An unhinged Bubba Wallace today challenged a fellow driver, Kyle Larson to a fight and pushed him multiple times after appearing to intentionally wreck him.
The altercation occurred in the first stage of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas after both drivers were essentially eliminated from the race after a crash that also collected playoff driver Christopher Bell.
Wallace, however, has denied that he crashed Larson on purpose after exiting the infield care center and that he was unable to steer his car after hitting the wall.
Larson had made an aggressive move on the track that caused Wallace to hit the wall after refusing to lift. “I don’t lift,” Wallace declared after the race.
Fans called for Wallace to be suspended for what transpired. In response to a tweet on NASCAR on NBC that contained a clip of the incident, one Twitter user said, “Larson showing how he’ll always be a class above somebody like Bubba. Takes a controlled dude to not retaliate to being pushed around like that.”
Another replied, “NASCAR this was wreckless and unhinged behavior from Bubba. You better hand out penalties. It’s not unreasonable to suspend Bubba for the remainder of the season and threaten his career pending investigation and apology to Kyle and Bubba should be required to take anger managemen[t].”
According to NBC Sports reporter Dustin Long, #NASCAR states that they will review the entire incident between Bubba Wallace and Kyle Larson this week.”
“NASCAR did NOT call Wallace to the hauler after the incident,” Long added, which would be like a visit to the principal’s office.
Most fans responded that they didn’t believe NASCAR would do anything to discipline Wallace as he seems to have “free reign.”
