In an MSNBC video from Saturday posted to Twitter, Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke speaks to the press from Charlottesville, Virginia. He was making a campaign stop in the city with a controversial history of racial tensions. A reporter asks him how he is going to address fears that the government will take away assault weapons. His answer, he’s not going to, because ‘that’s exactly what we’re going to do’.

Another 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, Joe Biden speaks in another video on CSPAN, posted Sep 2 by Ryan Saavedra. “The idea that we don’t have elimination of assault-type weapons, magazines that can hold multiple bullets in them, is absolutely mindless. It is no violation of the second amendment, it is just a bow to the special interests and the gun manufacturers and the NRA. It’s gotta stop.”
