A week ago, a 2015 video surfaced on the internet which exposed mayor Michael Bloomberg speaking out in favor of stop-and-frisk policies, and now another video from 2011 has leaked where he claims that ‘black and Latino males’ don’t ‘know how to find jobs,’ and ‘don’t know how to behave in the workplace.’ See tweet below:

“There’s this enormous cohort of black and Latino males aged, let’s say, 16 to 25 that don’t have jobs, don’t have any prospects, don’t know how to find jobs, don’t know that the — what their skill sets are, don’t know how to behave in the workplace, where they have to work collaboratively and collectively,”
Fellow Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren weighed in on the controversy, describing the stop-and-frisk comments as ‘racist justifications to defend the practice’ ‘and more comments are already resurfacing’.
Mike Bloomberg's expansion of “stop and frisk” devastated Black and Brown communities. For years, he used racist justifications to defend the practice—and more comments are already resurfacing. We need a nominee that Democratic voters can trust. https://t.co/AZa84e5Qt0

Twitter users have been critical of Bloomberg after the latest revelations with many tweets referring to him as a racist, including one by author Frederick Joseph. Joseph said in part, “I don’t want to hear he’s better than Trump”. See below:

Bloomberg did get some positive news on the day though, as it has been announced that he will be participating in Wednesday’s Democratic Presidential debate for the first time. It will be interesting to see how he will be able to co-exist with his fellow candidates after these recordings have surfaced. That in addition to the fact the many such as Bernie Sanders believe Bloomberg is trying to “buy” his way into getting the Democratic nod for president.
