Today, President Joe Biden was asked if he was “thinking of going to the border” after he returned to the White House by helicopter from a visit to Camp David.
“At some point, I will, yes,” Biden responded.
Biden was then asked by the same reporter if he would visit some of the detention facilities for migrants personally, to which, Biden replied, “I know what’s going on in those facilities.”
Another reporter asked Biden why his message urging migrants not to come from the United States was not working.
Biden insisted that he and his administration were working to handle the surge at the border.
“We are in the process of doing it now including making sure we re-establish what existed before, which is they can stay in place and make their case from their home countries, thank you” Biden concluded before turning to walk off.
The reporter who asked him the first two questions tried to get one last question in, asking “When will you allow the media into those facilities?”
Biden, however, had already departed at by the time she finished, so the question went unanswered.
President Biden says he plans to visit the border “at some point.”

Much in the way that Democrats have tried to hold former President Trump accountable for the Jan. 6 siege on the U.S. Capitol, Republicans are attempting to hold Biden responsible for the surge due to his “actions and words” as House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) put it.
McCarthy tweeted earlier, “This entire border crisis has been created simply by Joe Biden’s actions and words. And now he refuses to: Visit the border communities most affected, Give press access to migrant holding facilities, Provide Border Patrol agents the resources they need.”

U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) recently visited the border and tweeted a video where she spoke with two local sheriffs and said, “Joe Biden created a crisis at our southern border. Both sheriff’s have seen a massive uptick since Biden has taken office.”

Among others who have tweeted out about it, former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said, “Our southern border is an absolute travesty because of President Biden undoing President Trump’s policies that created the most secure border we’ve seen.”
