HBO’s Bill Maher got a tongue-lashing from Whoopi Goldberg after he said that he’s done with “masked, paranoid” COVID prevention measures.
On yesterday’s episode of “The View,” Goldberg played a clip of Maher’s Friday declaration during his show “Real Time with Bill Maher.”
The audience can be heard laughing as Maher declared, “I don’t want to live in your paranoid world anymore, your masked, paranoid world.”
“You go out, it’s silly now. You know you have to have your mask, you have to have a card, you have to have a booster. They scan your head like you’re a cashier and I’m a bunch of bananas, I’m not bananas, you are,” Maher mused.
Goldberg was not amused and lectured Maher, “That’s not really funny to people who have lost their kids to this vaccine or people who have lost family members or your friends to this.”
It is unclear if Goldberg perhaps slipped when she said “vaccine,” as it is likely she meant virus, but a curious slip nonetheless.
“Listen, nobody on the planet really wants to go through this. This is not something we’re doing because it’s sexually gratifying. This is what we’re doing to protect our families,” Goldberg insisted.
Many would argue, however, that Donald Trump would still be president if not for the pandemic and while they may wish it would have gone away after his defeat, they certainly are happy that he is out of office.
“This is what we’re doing to protect our families and you don’t have to do it, but stay away from everybody,” Goldberg told Maher before later adding, “How dare you be so flippant, man.”
