A man who was dressed in black bloc at a Los Angeles anti-vax protest and stabbed a Latino man was arrested by the LAPD, who charged him with attempted murder.
Eric Cohen, 30, of Long Beach, California, has been charged with attempted murder and is being held on a $1 million bail for his purported actions during an August 14 riot near LA City Hall.
At the time, we reported that the LA Times said the “anti-mask” protesters claimed that the man stabbed was part of their rally.
He could be seen collapsed in the intersection, bleeding, they explained at the time.
LAPD Police Chief Michael Moore said yesterday, “This anti-vax debate is manifesting itself in protests and demonstrations and violence in other parts of the country as well.”
“In Los Angeles, we’re not going to stand for it. Our arrest last night demonstrates that we’ll put whatever resources we need to identify those responsible for such violence and bring them to criminal justice system,” Moore added.
It is unclear why the police chief would would blame the protests for the actions of the Antifa counter protesters.
The Post Millennial reported:
Cohen stabbed a man on August 14 at around 2 PM near the intersection of 1st Street and Spring Street. He allegedly used a knife to stab the victim once in the upper right chest area. The victim was later hospitalized for a lacerated heart and punctured lung.
The Antifa member and suspect changed his hair colour, following the attempted murder at the riot last month. The “Choose Freedom March” rallied to protest against the city’s “medical tyranny, mandatory vaccinations and vaccine passports.” However, they were soon met by an opposing group of Antifa, who were dressed in “black bloc” gear, who called for “no safe spaces for fascists.”
Footage of the stabbing was shared on social media by video journalist Ford Fischer.
“This is the stabbing in slow motion,” he wrote. “If you watch closely, you’ll actually see that while the person stabbed continues to fight, even deploying mace against antifa activists, blood starts to drip into his purple shirt.”
