Even Radical Bernie Sanders Now Admits Democrats are Failing, Understands why Some People are Joining Republican Party

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (VT) believes the Democratic party needs a course correction. He doesn’t think that the Republican party is really winning the working class over, but that Democrats aren’t connecting or focusing on them.

Sanders told the Guardian, “It is no great secret that the Republican party is winning more and more support from working people. It’s not because the Republican party has anything to say to them. It’s because in too many ways the Democratic party has turned its back on the working class.”

Sanders believes that the messaging of the Democratic party has been more of what corporate donors want them to push and not enough focusing on the working class.

Sanders called on Democrats saying, “It’s important that we have the guts to take on the very powerful corporate interests that have an unbelievably powerful hold on the economy of this country.”

Sanders recently tweeted, “The Democratic Party has a fundamental question to ask itself. Are you prepared to stand with struggling working families all over this country? Do you have the guts to take on the moneyed interests whose greed has caused such enormous pain for so many? Which side are you on?”

There is a current struggle within the Democratic party on what their message should be. Failed 2016 presidential candidate and former Secretary of State, Hilliary Clinton has been making the rounds abdicating for less progressive messaging after Terry McAullife lost the Governor’s race in Virginia running on a progressive campaign. He lost to moderate Republican Glenn Youngkin who resonated with moderates in both parties.

New Jersey also saw a swing to the right in the 2021 elections. Democrats are nervous about the 2022 midterms and don’t seem unified in the direction the party should go.

President Biden gave a speech in Atlanta this week, that may view as him calling those that don’t support the voting legislation he wants to be passed, racists.

The midterms aren’t that far away and that will be the clear measure of what the working class thinks of the Democrats.
