‘RNC Research’ shared a clip from ABC’s ‘This Week’ with host George Stephanopoulos. In the clip, Stephanopoulos asked U.S. Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), “You believe [Trump] is ineligible to be president?”
Stephanopoulos asked the question concerning Pelosi’s Atlantic op-ed published on January 5th. In which Pelosi wrote, “Having failed to overturn the election results in the courts or in Congress, the president had resorted to insurrection in the Capitol.” Pelosi’s comment referred to the “Stop the Steal” rally held in Washington, D.C., on January 6th, 2021. Events devolved, and some protesters breached the Capitol.
When confronted with a direct question, Pelosi muddled together some words and tried to deflect from giving a straightforward answer. She attempted to skirt her broadcasted Atlantic opinion piece and shared that it depends on what each state decides.
Stephanopoulos directed Pelosi back to the Constitution’s 14th Amendment, which reads:
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may, by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.
She continued to deflect and claimed the decision belonged to the States.
Pelosi stated in her op-ed that she saw the events of January 6th as an insurrection, calling it such twice in her piece and clearly placing blame on former President Trump.

Today, we all must do our part to preserve American Democracy, which Lincoln called “the last best hope of earth.”
So far, two Secretaries of State have cited the 14th Amendment as the reason for removing former President Donald Trump from the ballot for this year’s presidential election.
While Colorado will keep Trump on the ballot, it is still up in the air whether Maine will have Trump on the ballot. A Maine court is set to rule before January 17th, and most believe Trump will remain on the ballot.
Since Trump announced his run for President in 2015, we have seen history being made in front of our eyes. Things this country has never faced before are now being prosecuted in our court system while the 2024 election season continues.
To many, it seems like almost anything could happen in this presidential election.

The last time a major party candidate was left off the ballot, it was Abraham Lincoln in 10 states.
Nancy should know about eligibility. She assisted the ineligible Obama to get him installed as America’s president.
