A Google preview of the much-maligned film “Cuties” which continues to be available to audiences through Netflix exclusively in America, despite the successful boycott and a Texas grand jury indictment, has potentially been hacked with a crude description of the film.
The description offered by Google if you search for the movie currently reads, “We test each one of these beautiful girls and see how far they can go before they gag during their audition!”
Beyond the fact that it appears to be inaccurate, the descriptions are typically much more in depth.
Take for example, the movie “Die Hard” where the description reads, “New York City policeman John McClane (Bruce Willis) is visiting his estranged wife (Bonnie Bedelia) and two daughters on Christmas Eve.”
“He joins her at a holiday party in the headquarters of the Japanese-owned business she works for. But the festivities are interrupted by a group of terrorists who take over the exclusive high-rise, and everyone in it. Very soon McClane realizes that there’s no one to save the hostages — but him,” it concludes.
One critic review of the movie “Cuties” on the Google preview by Jennifer Green reads, “Senegalese-French director Maïmouna Doucouré has created an evocative, compassionate portrait of young girls finding their identity and values in this controversial film.”
An article released yesterday said that the movie was “An Oscar contender, despite controversy.”
According to Deadline, when France’s Oscar selection committee made its shortlist last week, Cuties made the cut within the country’s list of five films it will submit for the category of Best International Feature.
The Oscar selection committee made up of “industry professionals” will reconvene tomorrow to decide on the final submission.
