U.S. House Rep Lauren Boebert (R-CO) was one of the first to call out a tweet made by Vice President Kamala Harris where she instructed Americans to “Enjoy the long weekend,” which she failed to note was due to Memorial Day on Monday.
After the backlash, Harris tweeted out this morning a new tweet, which also appeared to miss the mark on the meaning of Memorial Day.
Boebert has now tweeted out another tweet explaining to Harris how Memorial Day works.
“Kamala Harris needs to understand that this weekend is not about hot dogs, hamburgers, and beach parties,” Boebert began.
Boebert then explained, “It is about remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. Without the men and women that laid down their lives for us, we’d have nothing.”

It is about remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. Without the men and women that laid down their lives for us, we’d have nothing.
Previously, we reported:
Vice President Kamala Harris has recently been tweeting about diversity in the Navy and celebrating how Midshipman Sydney Barber “made history as the first black woman Brigade Commander at the U.S. Naval Academy.”
Harris, however, chose to make a tweet earlier where, instead of mentioning that it is Memorial Day weekend, she simply instructed Americans to “enjoy the long weekend” while sharing a picture of herself.
U.S. House Rep Lauren Boebert (R-CO) was among many who were appalled with her lack of mention about the federal holiday for honoring and mourning the military personnel who have died in the performance of their military duties while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
“This ‘long weekend’ has a name,” Boebert chided Harris in a quote tweet.
Harris’ latest tweet:
“Throughout our history our service men and women have risked everything to defend our freedoms and our country. As we prepare to honor them on Memorial Day, we remember their service and their sacrifice.”
