Lauren Boebert Among Many Appalled After Kamala Harris Instructs Americans to Enjoy the ‘Long Weekend’

Vice President Kamala Harris has recently been tweeting about diversity in the Navy and celebrating how Midshipman Sydney Barber “made history as the first black woman Brigade Commander at the U.S. Naval Academy.”

Harris, however, chose to make a tweet earlier where, instead of mentioning that it is Memorial Day weekend, she simply instructed Americans to “enjoy the long weekend” while sharing a picture of herself.

U.S. House Rep Lauren Boebert (R-CO) was among many who were appalled with her lack of mention about the federal holiday for honoring and mourning the military personnel who have died in the performance of their military duties while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

“This ‘long weekend’ has a name,” Boebert chided Harris in a quote tweet.

Former Republican congressional candidate Kimberly Klacik was one of several who responded to Harris and said, “Long weekend? I know many are upset & saying this is disrespectful, but I believe you are really just stupid.”

Republican Florida State House Rep. Anthony Sabatini told Harris in a reply, “Disgusting and disrespectful.”

Twitter user “PaxView Jeff” explained in a response, “It is Memorial Day weekend – nor for enjoying – but for memorializing our fallen. Our brothers and sisters, who ‘gave the last full measure of devotion’. Please try to respect that.”

President Joe Biden also failed to acknowledge the fact that it was Memorial Day weekend in a tweet with a picture that showed him talking to what appears to be a teenage girl while holding an ice cream cone.

“Stay cool this weekend, folks,” Biden instructed in the tweet.
