Lauren Boebert Vows Dems ‘Politically-Motivated Indictments’ Will Backfire When the GOP ‘Takes Back the House Next Year’

U.S. House Rep Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has hit back on “politically-motivated indictments” vowing that they will backfire when the GOP “takes back the House next year.”

On Oct. 21, the House of Representatives voted to hold former President Donald Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon in criminal contempt of Congress in a largely partisan vote.

In a tweet, Boebert declared, “Now that Democrats have started these politically-motivated indictments for Contempt of Congress, I look forward to seeing their reactions when we keep that same energy as we take back the House next year!”

The vote was held over his refusal to comply with a subpoena issued by the mostly Democrat House select committee investigating the events that occurred Jan. 6 at the U.S. Capitol.

Bannon has now been indicted by a federal grand jury and is facing two charges of contempt of Congress.

Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows missed a deadline yesterday to comply with a subpoena from the committee as well.

It is likely that a vote will be taken to recommend that he be charged with contempt also.

A joint statement from Committee Chair Bennie Thompson (D-MS) and Vice Chair Liz Cheney (R-WY) said, “Mr. Meadows’s actions today — choosing to defy the law — will force the Select Committee to consider pursuing contempt or other proceedings to enforce the subpoena.”
