Today’s roll call vote request by US House Rep Thomas Massie (R) was not the first time that he has blocked a bipartisan relief bill that was supported by President Trump. Last May, he delayed the passage of a $19B disaster relief bill for areas that were grappling with natural disasters.
Trump-backed $19B disaster relief bill blocked again by lone GOP congressman

Rep. Tom Massie became the latest House member to stand in the way.
Disaster relief for U.S. disaster areas stalled earlier this year when Trump objected to aid for Puerto Rico.https://t.co/iHx0AwndzB
At the time, other GOP Congressmen lashed out at Massie as well for holding up that bill when many localities were in need.
Austin Scott: While political games over disaster assistance continue as a Member from TX blocked a package from getting to @POTUS desk today, one thing is clear: This bill has broad support & will advance when the House reconvenes & will be signed into law by POTUS the first week of June.
Unfortunately, more clowns showed up today to once again delay disaster relief for the states and farmers devastated by the storms of 2018. This bill will pass the House next week, and President Trump will sign it. #GA08

David Perdue: This is yet another example of politicians putting their own self-interest ahead of the national interest. It’s pathetic that some members have chosen this moment to grandstand & get into the national headlines.

Massie, for his part, defended himself on today’s decision by saying, “There’s a big cover up in there.” He has gone on multiple outlets throughout the day to give his side of the story.

Today I joined the Rush Limbaugh show with guest host @kenmatthews to talk about the unconstitutional attempt by leadership on both sides of the aisle to pass the LARGEST SPENDING BILL EVER without actually voting. Miss the interview? You can listen here: pic.twitter.com/GfOK8hEJlK

Senator Mike Lee has also came to his defense saying that he doesn’t “know a member of Congress more principled or dedicated to the Constitution.” He also criticized Nancy Pelosi’s handling of the situation.
I don’t know a member of Congress more principled or dedicated to the Constitution than @RepThomasMassie. @SpeakerPelosi delayed this process repeatedly and sent the House into recess before its job was complete. Big mistake!
