Anti-Trump lawyer and former presidential hopeful Michael Avenatti was found guilty today of swindling porn star Stormy Daniels out of nearly $300k and now faces up to 22 years in prison.
In July 2021, Avenatti, 50, was sentenced to 30 months in prison after being found guilty of attempting to extort Nike and his latest felony conviction is nearly one year to the day from that first one.
The New York Post reported that throughout the trial, prosecutors painted Avenatti as a calculating thief who stole two book-advance payments from Daniels in 2018.
Daniels told jurors on the witness stand that she did not give Avenatti permission to keep the money owed to her through the book contract as she said, “He stole from me and lied to me.”
Like it was the first time he was convicted, reaction on Twitter was harsh for Avenatti, as many mentioned the fact that he was a former left-wing media darling while the media was focused on disrupting Donald Trump’s presidency.
Stephen L. Miller quote tweeted a compilation of various pundits gushing over Avenatti from Jerry Dunleavy.
“Curious, has Michael Avenatti ever been on Joe Rogan?” Miller wondered.
