A recent poll shows Hillary Clinton beating current President Joe Biden in a hypothetical 2024 Florida Democratic presidential primary.
A clip of Clinton crying while reading an unused 2016 victory speech went viral at the end of last year and she gave an interview on NBC’s Sunday Today.
Fox News’ Jimmy Failla warned that it could be a precursor to her potentially running again for president, possibly as soon as 2024 as she is five years younger than Biden.
According to the Suffolk University/USA TODAY Network poll, Clinton would win a hypothetical primary matchup by 46 percent to 43 percent.
If Clinton were to be the nominee, the poll noted that she would then lose to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis or Donald Trump by margins of 13 points and seven points, respectively.
Biden fares better in a contest against the two Republicans but still loses as Trump would beat him by three points, while DeSantis would beat him by eight points, according to the survey.
The poll shows the popularity of DeSantis in the sunshine state, but also the dissatisfaction with Biden’s presidency thus far.
Only 39 percent of the state’s likely voters approve of the job Biden is doing, while 53 percent disapprove, the poll found.
David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center in Boston said of the poll’s results, “Ironically, this 2024 Florida case study could be the narrative of the 2022 midterms: party nominees, who are strong within their party but less popular among the general electorate, could win their respective party primaries but falter in the general election.”
One conservative Twitter user with a sizeable following weighed in on the poll and pointed out, “Hell, put ANYBODY up against Biden and they will win.”
