Canadian Trucker ‘Freedom Convoy’ Suffers Big Blow as Ottawa Judge Bans Honking For 10 Days in City

Ontario Superior Court Justice Hugh McLean sided with left-wing Attorney Paul Champ’s clients and has granted a 10-day injunction to prevent the Canadian trucker “Freedom Convoy” from honking their horns in protest of vaccine mandates.

McLean said he heard enough evidence to make the ruling today, but noted that it was temporary until he hears more evidence.

Champ, the lawyer representing Ottawa residents in a proposed multimillion-dollar class-action lawsuit, had argued the loud and prolonged honking is causing irreparable harm, according to the Canadian Press.

The Canadian Press also explained that Keith Wilson, an attorney representing three of the respondents in the case, had told McLean the ruling on the injunction would carry national importance.

Twitter account Defiant L’s had made a meme which showed how Champ supported the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020 and compared it to his response to the “Freedom Convoy” protest.

One Pro-Trump Twitter user brought it to his attention in a quote tweet where she said, “Protests are wonderful unless it impacts @PaulChampLaw and then suddenly it isn’t. #Hypocrite“

Champ responded by suggesting that the account gets paid to make the meme of him.

“This is a really pro meme. I’m proud that someone is spending serious money on me,” Champ mocked.

In a Saturday tweet, Champ shared an agreement that truckers could sign to release them from the potential lawsuit.

“Dear Freedom Convoy Truckers, here is an agreement that you can sign to be released from the Li class action, with Court approval. Sign & return a photo to OttawaHornSettlement@gmail.com by Monday at 10am. Hard copies will be handed out tomorrow downtown. WE’VE HEARD YOU,” Champ said.
